Hey there Kinky Krew! 🙂
As many of you know, this week was the Shea Moisture buy one get one half off sale at Walgreens (or was that just me clearing the racks? lol) so I flew out the office around 11 or so on my lunch break to get my Shea Moisture goodies. I went in only to find that my favorite line, the Anti-Breakage products in the green packaging were nearly gone! Heartbroken but determined to leave with something, I decided to give the Strengthen Grow & Restore line a try since I’d been hearing several naturals rave about it. I picked up the leave-in, conditioner, masque and shampoo. (Usually I mix and match but I wanted to get the full JBC experience!)
Today is wash day so I anxiously grab my goodies and prep my hair for the daunting task. I unraveled my bun I’d had in pretty much all week, detangled my hair and put it in 4 large twists. I hop in the shower and begin shampooing each section. The shampoo was clarifying but did not strip my hair. Huge plus! I love a clean feeling after I wash because I try to go 2 weeks without shampoo washing (I do however co-wash once a week), so I tend to have a lot of build-up. After rinsing out the shampoo I put in the conditioner, unraveling each twist as I went along, and let it sit for about 3 or 4 minutes before washing that out. The slip I had was UNBELIEVABLE!
By this point I’m hot and tired but I still have to deep condition (rolls eyes lol), so I section my hair off again and hop out to apply the masque. I personally deep condition on wet, clean hair. I feel that it allows your hair to soak in all the nutrients that dirty hair is unable to do. I applied a generous amount to each section and put on my heating cap and let that sit for about 45 minutes. I rinsed with cold water to close my cuticles and automatically felt a difference in the way my hair felt before versus now. I am in love with this line you guys! It may be my new fave from Shea Moisture. However, I do feel that the conditioner could be doubled as a deep conditioner if you just let it sit or add heat, but still, an amazing product that made my hair super soft and managegible. (Next time I will skip the condition and go straight to deep conditioning after I shampoo). My curls were popping just after rinsing with nothing in my hair and that rarely happens with my mostly 4c curl type, so I knew my hair was happy. I did a flat twist out with the leave-in and my hair felt so moisturized and fluffy. Although the leave-in was the most pricey of the bunch, the tub is huge and will last you a very long time. I will definitely will be repurchasing all of these products again and they may even replace my old favorite!
These products were my go-to! But, they started drying my hair out. 😥

I have tried the masque and leave-in conditioner from this line. The masque I liked better than the leave-in. The leave-in made my hair feel a little dry as well and I did not like how watery the consistency was. The masque however is nice for when my hair needs moisture – odd. Shea Moisture though has always been my favorite natural hair product line and those Walgreens sales gets me every time!
