Hey there kinky krew,
I get a lot of questions about what products I use in my kinky 4B/4C hair, so I wanted to do a series of posts where I share all the products I use to give you guys an idea of some things maybe you’d like to try. So, with that being said I wanted to start out with Leave-ins. In my opinion, having 2 or 3 ride-or-die leave-in is one of the most important parts of creating a sturdy hair care regimen. Leave-ins are what maintain the moisture and strength in your strands until your next wash day so you want to make sure they’re good quality and doing what they’re supposed to do!
Things to Ask Yourself when Choosing a Leave-In:
- Is the first ingredient Water? The first ingredient in all your moisturizing products should be water. So when selecting a leave in conditioner this should be first on your checklist.
- Does it include Silicones, Parabens or Mineral Oil? I’ve become a bit of a product snob over the course of this year and I am super picky about what I choose to leave in my hair. So if a leave-in includes any of these three hair killers I suggest you leave them on the shelf and not in your hair.
- Are you Protein Sensitive? Since finding out my sensitivity to protein I’ve been extremely careful when choosing products especially ones that will be left in my hair. If you find out that you are in fact protein sensitive it’s important to try to stray away from ingredients that end in “protein, collagen or keratin”.
My Favorite Leave-Ins

I have yet to review this product but it is an absolute gem and has been in my regimen for awhile now. It smells amazing, detangles and keeps my hair moisturized for days after washing. It’s also filled with yummy ingredients like Aloe Vera Juice, Jojoba Oil and my personal favorite Avocado Oil.

*Product Review* Camille Rose Naturals Moroccan Pear Conditioning Custard
I use this “rinse out conditioner” as a leave-in because it’s just too moisturizing to rinse out! It melts into my strands like butter and makes detangling an absolute breeze. This product was recently added into my hair regimen so if you’d like to hear all my thoughts on it click to link above.

As a lover of the blueberry bliss “CURLS” line, I had to include their super moisturizing leave-in. The smell alone is enough to make someone pick it up but it’s ability to keep my hair soft for days is what really makes this one a winner in my book. If you have a thing for products that not only moisturize but leave your hair smelling delicious for days, this is definitely the leave-in for you!

This last leave-in is my trusty Aloe Vera Juice. I use this as my “liquid” while doing the LCO method on my wash days and times when my hair is just in need of a pick me up. You can dilute Aloe Vera Juice with water but I always use mine straight from the jug!
