Fro Season is upon us once again ladies!

Spring and Summer are the absolute best seasons to let your natural hair out to breath so take advantage of it! Due to all the humidity and moisture in the air, we can more easily hold onto moisture, unlike during the cooler months. Many naturals also see more growth during this time of year.

While this is my hair’s favorite season there are still a few changes I like to make once it starts to get a little warmer outside.

 Light Spray Leave-ins

One of the first changes I make to my regimen is my daily moisturizer. I like using lightweight products like spray leave-in conditioners to lightly mist my hair daily. I use to think spray leave-ins really did nothing for my super thick kinky mane but they actually do a great job of giving you the perfect amount of moisture. The moist air already keeps my hair pretty hydrated so I don’t need to go overboard with my leave-ins on a day to day basis. This one by Honey’s Handmade is a watery spritz made up of Rosewater, Cotton Seed, and Aloe Vera Juice and I find myself reaching for over and over. It’s super moisturizing and it smells amazing! You can also go the DIY route. Here’s a link to my DIY hair spritz recipe.

Shampoo

Shampooing is a huge change I’ve made to my regimen over the past couple months because recently I found myself getting crazy amounts of build-up! And we all know that along with build-up comes breakage! So I decided to add shampooing back into my regimen and my hair has never felt better. I shampoo my hair with every wash making sure my scalp and strands are free from all debris and buildup. Cleansing is especially important when it’s hot outside and you’re sweating a little bit more. I don’t really have a favorite shampoo, as long as it doesn’t have sulfates I’m good to go!

Weightless Oils

I have been loving weightless oils for some time now and during the warmer months, I love them even more! They are so lightweight and give my hair a healthy shine which I love.

I pretty much will use any brand as long as they smell good and they don’t contain any crazy ingredients. This one by Maui Moisture has been my go-to lately just because it’s cheap and easy to find. If I’m feeling like I want to use a natural oil I will usually reach for my trusty Almond Oil. It’s super lightweight and gives my hair that beautiful sheen in the sunlight without appearing greasy or heavy.
