$40 Dollar DevaCurl Melt in Moisture Deep Conditioner Mask Review on 4B/4C Hair

Hey there kinky krew!

If you’re reading this, you most likely have a kinky hair texture similar to mine and are curious whether  DevaCurl is worth the coin or not!

If you’re a regular reading of my blog, you’d know that the DevaCurl No-Poo Decadence is one of my favorite cowashes, but I’ve never really tried any other products from DevaCurl. Other than the fact that their products are much more on the pricer side, I honestly never really see people with my hair type raving about their products so I figured why bother. It wasn’t until someone on the DevaCurl team reached out to me and asked to send me some products and of course I agreed so I could share the tea with my type 4 sistas.

So I paroozed their site because I literally only really knew one product they offer, and naturally, I chose the most expensive deep conditioner they offered LOL. But honestly y’all, good deep conditioners are hard to come by and the ingredients really intrigued me. So I decided to try it and share my thoughts in case any of my kinky krew members are in the market for a new DC and are looking to splurge a little.

Since I shampoo’ed the previous week, I started out this washday by giving my hair a light cleanse with the No-Poo Decadence shampoo by Deva Curl. I’m not going to go too deep into this product, but this is one of my absolute favorite co-washes for summer! After my hair was lightly cleansed, I went straight into my deep conditioning.

On dripping wet sectioned hair, I went in and applied the mask using just my fingers allowing the water to help me disperse the product. No brush or comb necessary! The product is a perfect consistency, not too thick to where it’s hard to get throughout my curls nor too thin. Very rich, thick and creamy.

Slip Test

My fingers were able to glide through my hair without any issues. It truly lives up to the name because as soon as this deep conditioner touched my hair it melted! All my tangles from the week went away with ease and I was actually in shock at how well this detangled my hair.

While smoothing this throughout my entire head, my curls instantly felt so hydrated that I did not want to rinse this out! I honestly lost track of how long I let this sit LOL. It felt SO good you guys. I know it was well over the recommended “one hour” on the packaging. I sat with a Walmart bag and my slap cap over it to trap in extra heat.

Results/Final Thoughts

After rinsing, my hair didn’t even feel like a leave-in was necessary. It was very fluffy, soft and manageable. So I just went in with a dab of oil, braided it up to air dry and here were my results from those braids. (I honestly expected it to come out dry but it didn’t!)

The next day when I took my braids down

If you are in the market for more luxury products, this one is definitely worth a try. It is a high quality product and I can honestly say a lot of us type 4 naturals might be sleep on Deva Curl products!
