Hey there kinky krew!
I wanted to drop in and give you all an update on my hair because it has been thriving over these past few months!
When it came to my hair, I use to have a love/hate relationship with summer due to the humidity. But with my updated routine and a few tweaks here and there, I’ve been able to use the moisture in the air to my advantage and my kinks seem to be doing better than ever!
My washdays consist of Pre-pooing, a light Cowash, Shampoo and a Deep Hair Treatment!
I start out my washdays by doing a Pre-poo/detangling session. This first step is vital to having a stress free wash day for me. My favorite pre-poo is the African Pride Aloe Pre-poo because of the moisture and the slip.
I know this may be a bit extra for some, but after rinsing out my prepoo treatment I like to go in with a cheapy conditioner. This step is not necessary, but I prefer to cowash so some of that build up is somewhat removed before it’s time to shampoo. I only do one lather, so I like to “help” my shampoo out a bit so it doesn’t have to do as much work to remove any build up from the previous week.
Keeping your hair clean and free of debris during the warmer months is key to healthy hair growth. My hair has been responding really well to being washed once a week with a non-sulfate shampoo. My favorite shampoo is the TGIN Moisture Rich Sulfate free shampoo. I lather my hair for about 30 seconds per section.
4. Deep Condition
Since I’ve been religiously washing once a week, of course we have to follow that up with a deep conditioner! My favorite has been the Cappuccino Curls Deep Conditioner from 4Curlz which just so happens to be my very own product! It’s super hydrating and rich, giving my hair the nutrients it needs all week long.
5. Stretch Your Styles
I use to be the natural that would restyle throughout the week to maintain definition, but as of lately, I realized stretching my styles has made a difference in my hair health. And if you lose definition by Wednesday, so what?! Rock it in a cute puff! Let me know if you guys are interested in an updated twistout tips post!
6. Protective Styles
Along with stretching my styles, I also have weeks where I strictly wear protective styles. I try to do this every other week and with the length I’ve been gaining, flat twists and braids have been much easier!
I hope all my kinky krew members have been having an amazing summer and I look forward to posting more often! Please let me know down below if you’re interested in an updated Twistout Tips post! And until next time, later kinky krew!
